Our Kids’ Village Project Update
NOLA Green Roots just signed the ownership papers for the plot of land that runs perpendicular to Wise Words Garden from Tulane Avenue! This lot is the future site of our newest project, Our Kids Village. Our Kids Village is the first community garden in the city of New Orleans to focus on kids in pre-school through 5th grade. Activities at the garden include training sessions on how to plant properly, raise farm animals responsibly and the science of soil. In addition, the garden will have an interactive Web site where kids can play games and complete homework assignments that re-enforce their knowledge. Studies show that engaging in outdoor educational activity during these formative years can permanently enhance a child’s gross motor skills and muscle development. Get your membership today!
